A New Day

it's always refreshing when you happen upon a new day. if the mind is conditioned right, it does not relapse into the old memories of days before. it is only our minds that remember what happened yesterday, and I find it of importance to note that we tend to linger in the realms of regret or of not letting go of certain thoughts that often bind our hearts. it is not easy to let go. our minds have this tendency to latch on to the thoughts that hurt us, but this is not the way to a serene mentality. a friend of mine told me that I don't write with enough depth, that I am only skimming the surface. these are my thoughts, mine alone, and I must suffer beneath the weight of the criticism of my elders, contemporaries, and younger readers. I'm making it an effort to delve deeper in the realms of the mind, of the heart, and of the soul. we have so much to offer the world, it's just when our minds are occupied with the space of something gone and past that we neglect to give our present moments the energy that is wanted to see the world through fresh eyes. letting go completely is something that I am in attempt to master. when one has an ill thought, or has spoken cross words, I believe it is the duty of ourselves to forgive those trespasses. if our minds are leaning backwards beyond the threshold of the present into the past, we are not experiencing the now as it is when we are there. oh, I wish that I could pour out my heart into writing, and learn its nature. I wish that had the depth of great writers, but I am still a learner. what prevents me from being totally immersed in the present are the tethers that linger in the past. what we have done, spoken, or thought, once it passes through that lens of the past, cannot be manipulated or changed. as the wise one said, you must unlearn what you have learned. I cannot say with utmost certainty that I will master the art of being in the now, being possessed by its splendor, but I will give it the energy that I have. let go, and you might find that your eyes are seeing the world the way it is ought to be seen, through clear eyes. when we dwell, our eyes are filled with the cares and worries of what has been, not on what is progressing in this very moment. life can be beautiful. if you are busily trapped in the memories and worries of yesterday, then the blossoms of the budding Spring tree you will miss. but what splendor it is to see the purple blossom! examine how your mind dwells, and require of it the energy to focus on what is right before you, not what is behind.

  1. Doctor, heal thyself.

No one has ever lived a single minute of their lives in the past, nor future. Every moment we have is lived, in the present.

Learn from the past, then let it go. Form your future in the only place you can...the now.

Forgive everyone's transgressions against you, then forgive yourself for your's against another. Embrace the past for what it was, and let that dog lie.

Create your future, today. Paint, in your mind's eye, your ideal life. Memorize that image. Then guide every move you make towards that vision. At each crossroad, ask yourself, "Does this move me towards my vision?". If the answer is "no", then do not walk down that path. Take another.

Expend your energy only on those actions that move you towards your dreams. Anything else is energy ill-spent.

    See the glass half full.
